The Law of Attraction: What Works and What Doesn’t
The Law of Attraction is one of the most powerful natural laws that can help people change their lives. Even though this law gained a massive mainstream following in the past decade, due to the popular best-selling movie, The Secret, this law is as timeless and universal as the concepts of energy or gravity.
Quite simply, it is the concept of “like attracts like.” It describes how “thoughts are things” and how things in the universe gravitate towards others things that are of the same vibrational frequency.
In other words, if you think positive thoughts, you attract positive things into your life. If you think negative thoughts, you will attract negative things into your life
The Law of Attraction is grounded in the principle that just as the external world affects your life, so do your internal vibrations, which consists of your individual thoughts and feelings. This means that your mind has the incredible power of shaping your reality.
It’s an empowering realization that each person has the capability to manifest their own destiny with the way they think.
The Art of Visualization
Taking the time to visualize and manifest your desires is a crucial part of working with the Law of Attraction. While thinking “I want a raise” is a good start, practicing visualization helps you to generate the right energy to attract your intention.
When visualizing, make the experience as real as possible in your mind. Engage all of your senses, as you imagine yourself finally achieving your goal.
If you’re hoping for a raise, imagine your boss calling you into his or her office to tell you you’re getting a raise. Let the excitement wash over you. Did you smile, laugh, or shake your boss’ hand? How did your family react when you told them? What did you buy with your first paycheck?
Imagine ALL of these things!
By visualizing your desires clearly, you are not only making a concrete decision of what you want and where you want to be, but you are also already preparing to receive it.
After all, the secret of The Secret is, this is more than just thinking the words in your head and having your desires suddenly appear from thin air. But that ultimately, working with the Law of Attraction is all about making sure that your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs are in tune with your desires. So clearly knowing what you want and then visualizing it often,” as if” it has already happened, are the keys!
Think, Believe, and Practice
Of course, it’s difficult to visualize something you don’t wholeheartedly believe. Thinking one thing and believing the opposite will not help you attract the things that you want.
So, to be in complete harmony with the universe, there should be no doubt cluttering your mind and working against your intentions.
So, it helps to start small when working with the Law of Attraction to build your confidence in the process. In the beginning, some of the things you can try focusing on are finding a few extra dollar bills, or getting a prime parking spot at a crowded space. So I recommend starting with more general intentions because they are easier to visualize
Because each small achievement can reaffirm and strengthen your belief in the power of the Law of Attraction, and then eventually, it will become much easier and more effortless to incorporate in your day to day life.
Actions That Support Your Intention
Although the Law of Attraction is primarily a concept that uses the power of your mind, it’s important that your real life and actions do not contradict your desires. Make sure that you’re living and enjoying the life you imagined during your visualization by opening yourself up to the possibilities, and giving your desires the space they need to manifest in the real world.
For example, if you want to meet the man or woman of your dreams, don’t lock yourself inside the room the entire day. If you’re trying to lose more weight, buy a pair of jeans one size smaller and then work on changing your eating. If you’re dreaming of jet-setting around the world, plan out your itinerary to and start checking out plane tickets.
Acting “as if” you are already who you want to be and have the things you want to have aligns you and your energy with your dreams.
What Doesn’t Work: Negativity
The thing about the Law of Attraction is that it works in alignment with your energy, whether it’s positive or negative. The universe gives you back what you send out.
One of the things that can work against the Law of Attraction is focusing on the wrong things, or negative aspects of your intention. For example, when people hope for financial prosperity, they often exhaust their energy by thinking how much they desperately need or want money and how worried they are that they’re not going to get it.
Remember that the Law of Attraction works with positivity and confidence. Instead of stressing over the alternative, you should be excited that you will soon be getting a boost in your finances.
Trust that it will manifest and prepare for its arrival!
Negativity can also materialize in the way you see yourself. People who have little self-confidence or self-love can also find themselves struggling to attract what they want.
Even if you want something, and believe that the Law of Attraction can make it a reality, your subconscious mind should be on the same page. If you don’t believe you deserve it, you likely will not get it. Deep-seated fears send out the wrong energy, just as much as your conscious thoughts do, all of which affects what you manifest in your life every day.
